I'm about to give up and nuke this thing.Tl dr: if you use BackBlaze and are subject to a data cap, you should keep an eye on BackBlaze to make sure it doesn’t quietly use up all your data allowance. This has only started happening in the last month or so and I don't know what changed because because I haven't suddenly gained more so many more files than I had before, and this usually happens while I'm unplugged from my external drives (which are getting backed up too)īackblaze says there's not much I can do besides reinstall and start a fresh backup. That means every time bztransmit runs, it will use at least that much data in RAM and more as it performs tasks. Your bzfileids.dat file is over 5.3GB in size currently. This file is read into RAM whenever bztransmit runs. It also grows over time as you make changes to your computer. Since this is a master list of your files, the more files you have the bigger this file gets. This index is used to tell if a file has already been backed up from another location and to see what still needs to be backed up on your computer. Our program contains a file named bzfileids.dat that is a master index file for all files every backed up for your computer, and assigns a FileID to each file. Our system is showing that you have 15,000,000 files selected for backup. Support says that it's because I have so many files: Basically, multiple times a day the `bztransmit` process will grow to 7.5ish GB of memory and everything will slow to a crawl. I've contacted support already, but I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem. ![]()
